Permit Summary
ATP 940P is located in the south western area of the Queensland Eromanga Basin, 75km west of Jackson. It overlies the southern edge of the Jurassic to Cretaceous Eromanga Basin and the southern margin of Permian to Triassic Cooper Basin. The area of the permit is 2,545km2.
The permit consists mainly of the eastern edge of the Nappamerri Trough.
Previous wells drilled in the area have intersected oil shows in many of the target formations. The closest hydrocarbon discoveries are Challum, Yanda, Wackett, Naccowlah and Jackson fields.
Recent Activity
The main focus is to explore and develop shale and tight gas resources in the Central Cooper Basin Nappamerri Trough Shale Gas Fairway. All publicly available geologic and geophysical data was compiled and input into a comprehensive assessment of the shale gas potential of the region along with the conventional resources study.
Drillsearch has recently announced that it has formed a strategic Joint Venture with QGC a BG Group company, to explore and develop unconventional shale and tight gas resources in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin.
The Joint Venture involves QGC farming into, and acquiring, a 60% interest in DLS's strategically located ATP 940P covering over 2,545km2of the Central Cooper Basin Nappamerri Trough Shale Gas Fairway.
In November 2011, ATP 940P was formally awarded to Drillsearch by the Queensland Government. The commencement of the ATP 940P Joint Venture with QGC is subject to approval by the Governement of the transfer of the interest in the permit to QGC.
Geological and geophysical work has been ongoing. In addition, Drillsearch is continuing with its plan to acquire a large 3D seismic survey in ATP 940P.
